Section: Exploratory Objects

Playing with pegs is an activity which encourages young children's natural curiosity to explore what objects can do. It introduces children to everyday objects , due to them being an item which is readily available in most households!

A range of different pegs could be introduced; wooden, brightly coloured  plastic and dolly pegs.

Different containers and bags for the children to put the pegs in and out of (including tins for lots of noise!)

How does this help your child's development?

Playing with  pegs can help develop muscles and fine manupulative  skills. Exploring with taking them in and out of metal tins can be interesting for young children as they hear the different sounds made and understand about cause and effect as the realise they are making the sounds through their actions.
