Home-made paint can be made using edible ingredients allowing babies to join in with the fun of painting. It stops any concerns about your baby eating the paint and is cheap and easy to make.

How to make the paint:

Uncooked recipe:

  • one cup of flour
  • one cup of water
  • few drops of food colouring (although as this paint dries the colour can be quite faint so add more colouring if you want brighter colours!)

Cooked recipe:

  • 1/2 cup of corn flour
  • 3 table spoons of sugar
  • 2 cups of water
  • 1/2 tablespoon of salt

How can this benefit your child's development?

Providing babies with paint allows them to explore the texture in there hands and see the creations they make!It helps develop physical skills as baby pats and bangs on the paper with their hands. It is a good activity to allow even very young children to express themselves and explore with mark making.
